To Whom It May Concern:
Mr. Gennady Sukhanov took my classes in Business Statistics and the Principles of Macro- and Microeconomics during the 1997-98 academic year at the Russian American Faculty of Far Eastern State University. Mr. Sukhanov did excellent work in these classes, which I taught in English and which corresponded in content to similar courses in an American university.
Mr. Sukhanov consistently earned the highest grades in the class, but this alone does not indicate the amount of effort, enthusiasm, and creativity that he displayed. He mastered the subjects at hand and then had a desire for more. I gave him supplementary materials in intermediate and advanced macroeconomics, which he thoroughly studied. His eagerness was not limited to economics, however: I gave him some works of American literature, and he read them with zeal. I would like to add that Mr. Sukhanov's quantitative skills are superb. He also has very high abilities in written and spoken English.
Mr. Sukhanov has an exceptional drive to learn. He spoke often in class discussions and made statements with keen insight. I believe that he is a very talented student who will do well in situations that require independent thinking and thorough analysis, either in business or in an academic program.
I have had the opportunity to speak with Mr. Sukhanov outside of class on a number of occasions, and I have found him to be very well-read and a good conversationalist. He is a serious young man of excellent character who will be prized in any Firm or graduate program which he may enter.
If you have more questions about my evaluation of Mr. Sukhanov's qualifications, please contact me through the University of Maryland University College, Office of International Programs, University Boulevard at Adelphi Road, College Park, MD 20742-1644 USA (telephone: 301-985-7442).
Sincerely,
